Теория
Конструкции there is и there are используются, чтобы сказать, что где-то находится или имеется какой-либо предмет, человек или группа предметов.
There is употребляется с существительным в единственном числе и с неисчисляемыми существительными:
There is a table in the room.
There is some milk in the fridge.
There are употребляется с существительными во множественном числе:
There are two chairs in the kitchen.
Отрицательная форма:
There isn’t a computer.
There aren’t any books.
Вопросительная форма:
Is there a balcony?
Are there any windows?
Краткие ответы:
Yes, there is.
No, there isn’t.
Yes, there are.
No, there aren’t.

Не путайте there is с it is: There is a book on the desk — «На столе есть книга», It is a book — «Это книга».
